NRL stars move into personalised print

Fulton told ProPrint that he was looking to expand Homebush-based Sporty Stuff after returning to the Tigers following a one-year stint in English Super League team the Huddersfield Giants.

The company, which produces banners and charts on a Xeikon 500 digital press, is looking at investing in a Direct Target Mailer 8000 to grow the business into direct mail.

The company has also recently expanded its print management service, procuring collateral such as personalised mugs, t-shirts, key-rings, and other items from trade suppliers.

Fulton and Gibbs were originally recruited to help boost the profile of the company, with the lock and prop recently becoming partners in the business.

Because of their NRL commitments, Fulton and Gibbs have so far mostly been involved in “getting the word out and “knocking on doors”, but have recently become more involved in strategic areas of the business.

“We’re learning about the business and how printing works, as well as the various printing methods,” Fulton said.

“With the banner side of things, we can put those orders together and get the printing done there.”

“The more detailed work with personalised envelopes, that’s more of a learning curve where we’re learning about things like database management,” he added.
