Rescued pups smile for Doggett calendar

KW Doggett celebrates 40 years in the paper game with the release of its 2015 calendar featuring 12 abandoned dogs rescued from Australian shelters.

The calendar, printed by Immij and bound by Marvel Bookbinding, includes bios about each dog and their owners, which were chosen from more than 200 entries.

The paper merchant says the project was pulled together by Marta Roca, creative director of online dog and culture magazine Four&Sons, RMIT design graduates Caroline Beard and Anthony Stephens, and photographer James Greer who shot the photos in one day.

Doggett national marketing manager Catherine Doggett says the 2015 calendar is one of the favourite calendars the company has produced.

“We are pretty nuts about dogs and this calendar certainly lets them shine. I especially love the big yawn on Sprocket and the performance by Shultz. He rocked up at the shoot and gave us his best ‘blue steel’,” she says.

“Surprisingly, most of the dogs were at ease in front of the camera – testament to their new, loving owners.”

Doggett is calling it the ‘Underdogs’ edition and made a donation to Pet Rescue Australia.

The calendar was printed by UV offset presses on Strathmore Super Smooth Ultimate White 176gsm, while STS Creative Printers screen printed the cover on Rives Tradition Poison Black 250gsm.

Customers are encouraged to use #underdogs2015 when posting pictures of the calendar on social media.

Those following Doggett’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages will get the chance to win one of 10 calendars being given away. Competition opens on Monday 15 December 2014.
