Fujifilm exits from drupa and interpack 2021

Fujifilm is next in line to excuse itself from tradeshows in 2021, announcing that it will be withdrawing from both drupa and interpack 2021, scheduled to take place between 20-28 April 2021 and 25 February-3 March 2021 respectively.

Both events are to take place in Messe Düsseldorf, Germany.

According to Fujitsu, as COVID-19 has become a global epidemic and the spread of infection has not yet come to an end, it has decided to withdrawal from these exhibitions to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and employees.

“As society moves to adjust to a ‘new normal’, remote communication and more efficient way of working at manufacturing sites will be increasingly required in the printing industry,” the company said.

“Fujifilm has been providing various solutions to support customers’ business and process reformation, such as online proofing XMF Remote, process-less thermal CTP plate for efficient print production, and superb quality Jet Press Digital printing solution for short run and variable print.

“Fujifilm will continue to provide innovative solutions to customers in a wide range of segments, such as commercial/publication printing, newspaper printing and package printing through various media such as seminars, virtual exhibition utilising corporate websites and email etc.

“Under the slogan of Value from Innovation, Fujifilm will continue to provide innovative products and services by leveraging the Fujifilm Group’s advanced technology and expertise.”

Fujifilm joins a number of other businesses that have decided to exit the tradeshow as a result of COVID-19.

Most recently, Screen Graphic Solutions announced that it won’t be participating in the upcoming drupa international printing and media trade show.

In July, Manroland Sheetfed and Komori Corporation both pulled out of drupa amidst fears surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, joining the likes of Heidelberg and Bobst, which have ceased their participation at the exhibition.

On the other hand, Kurz and VDMA as well as Windmöller & Hölscher have reaffirmed their commitment to drupa.

Drupa has since extended its digital offering with the upcoming launch of a new online portal that aims to increase communication around the tradeshow.
